He keeps his face to the sun
he hopes,
it will be better.
He knows he'll survive
on a wing and a prayer
Like a sturdy mountain,
he stands unfazed
in the face of rough weather.
He knows he'll survive
on a wing and a prayer
He'll find his way
around giant rocks
As does flowing water.
He knows he'll survive
on a wing and a prayer
He'll break free
from those mighty shackles
He'll break the tether.
He knows he'll survive
on a wing and a prayer
For he who looks up to Him
and hangs on to faith,
will be blessed forever.
He will survive ......
on just a wing and a prayer.
(During World War One airplanes were still a novelty and untested in war. A "wing and a prayer" was first uttered when an American flier came in with a badly damaged wing.
His fellow pilots and mechanics were amazed he didn't crash. He replied he was praying all the way in. Another pilot chimed in that "a wing and a prayer brought you back."
that is when the phrase..'wing and a prayer' originated.)
